OutOfAir vs FoodSaver, VacMaster, Weston, and FoodVacBags - Vacuum Sealer Bag Brands Comparison

Choosing the right vacuum sealer bags is crucial. That’s why we want to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision.

OutOfAir vs. Other Brands

See how OutOfAir stacks up against other generics brands.

2x More Affordable Than Other Brands

Investing in vacuum sealer bags doesn’t have to be expensive. If you vacuum seal often, having quality bags at an affordable price makes the difference.

Did you know you can save up to twice as much by switching to OutOfAir bags?

To show how OutOfAir stacks up against competitors like FoodSaver and Weston, we've included a price comparison chart below:

Compatible With All Heat-seal Vacuum Sealer Machines

Other brands of vacuum seal bags are incompatible with other brands of vacuum sealers. FoodSaver bags, for example, are designed exclusively for use with FoodSaver units.

OutOfAir bags, on the other hand, are 100% compatible with all heat-seal vacuum sealer machines. This includes all large/countertop models made by FoodSaver®, Weston®, VacMaster®, Cabela’s®, and others.

33% Thicker Than Other Brands

Thickness is crucial in preventing punctures, uneven sealing, and food spoilage. Using OutOfAir bags, you'll have a premium sealing experience with their 4 mil gloss, and 10 mil embossed sides. These bags are made of 7 layers of nylon and polyethylene, making them 33% thicker than most other bags on the market.

FoodSaver bags are only 3 mil thick on the gloss side and 9 mil thick on the embossed side. This is because they are made of 5 layers of nylon and polyethylene, making them more likely to be punctured and prone to wear and tear.

Here's a thickness comparison of OutOfAir vs. FoodSaver, GameSaver, and GameSaver Heavy Duty:

More Capable Than Other Brands

We break down the features of OutOfAir bags to help you better understand their capabilities.

Layers

Layers and Barriers

One thing to keep in mind when comparing vacuum sealer bags: nylon is the material that blocks air and moisture molecules from getting into your food. Without nylon, air and moisture would seep through the "normal" plastic due to the vacuum inside the bag.

OutOfAir bags are made of 7 layers of heavy-duty materials, including 2 outer and middle layers of nylon barrier. Thus, even if the outer nylon layer is damaged, these bags will remain sealed, keeping your food safe. Other brands, however, consist of only 5 layers and only 1 outer layer of nylon, making them unusable if damage is sustained to the outer layer.

The 7 OutOfAir layers, from outside to inside: Nylon (co-extruded PA), PE (polyethylene), LDPE (low density polyethylene), PE, Nylon, PE, LDPE.

 Air Channel

Air Channels

A bag's textured pattern creates air channels that allow for air to escape during the vacuum sealing process.

OutOfAir bags use tried and true embossed patterns, while other brands use honeycomb, waffle, and other designs. But unlike other brands' patterns, OutOfAir creates more air channels and removes more air.

Malleable

Malleability

Plastic malleability can be affected by its thickness and composition. For example, a 3 mil bag can be stiffer than a 4 mil bag (consider another example: a sheet of paper and a sheet of steel at the same thickness will be very different).
Note: Food vacuum bags must be flexible enough to allow more air to escape during vacuum sealing.

OutOfAir bags are highly malleable due to their composition and layering, allowing all the air to escape while remaining puncture-resistant. Additionally, this contributes to the durability, flexibility, and ability of OutOfAir bags to hold long-lasting seals compared to other brands.

Sous Vide

Safety

OutOfAir bags are made of FDA-approved food-safe plastic. In addition, they are free of bisphenol-A (BPA) and phthalates. Also, these bags have passed boiling tests up to 100 °C for 4 hours, making them suitable for sous vide cooking.

OutOfAir bags can be microwaved, boiled, frozen, and dishwasher safe. In contrast, other brands, such as FoodSaver, can only withstand temperatures of 90 °C and may melt if exposed to temperatures above that level.
